# Built to Last: Sourcing Hardware & Tools
The Tools section (Phase 1, Area B/C) is a playground for DIY enthusiasts and construction suppliers.
## 1. Electrical vs. Hand Tools
* **Power Tools:** Cordless is king. Look for **Brushless Motors** and **20V Battery Platforms**.
* *Tip:* Ask if their battery interface is "Makita Compatible". Many buyers want this.
* **Hand Tools:** Hammers, Screwdrivers, Pliers.
* *Material:* Ask if it's **CR-V (Chrome Vanadium)** or Carbon Steel. CR-V is the standard for quality. Carbon steel is cheap junk.
## 2. Regional Specialties
* **Qidong (Nantong):** The capital of power tools in China. If a factory is from Qidong, they know their stuff.
* **Yongkang:** Famous for hardware and garden tools.
* **Zhangjiagang:** Known for pliers and scissors.
## 3. Testing Quality on Spot
* **Power Tools:** Ask to test it. Drill into a block of wood. Listen to the motor. Does it spark excessively? Does it smell like burning plastic?
* **Hand Tools:** Check the finish. Is the chrome plating smooth? Rough casting lines indicate cheap manufacturing.
## 4. Sets vs. Individual
* **Tool Sets:** Blow-molded cases with 100+ pieces are huge sellers for Father's Day gifts.
* **Customization:** Factories love making custom color cases for brands. Visual differentiation is cheap here; internal mechanism changes are expensive.
## Summary
Price is fiercely competitive. Focus on the **Motor Quality** for power tools and **Steel Hardness** (HRC) for hand tools.
